Online Exponent Calculator
This calculator lets you calculate the result of raising a number to a power.
What is a power?
A power is the repeated multiplication of a number according to its exponent.
For example 35 = 3 * 3 * 3 * 3 * 3 = 243.
Why powers are useful
Powers of ten make it possible to shorten decimal notation.
For example 380000 = 3.8*104
The power of two, or square, is used to calculate the area of a surface whose sides are all equal.
For example 452 = 2025. A square surface with 45 m sides has an area of 2025 m².
How to read a power
The exponent is written at the top, smaller than the number: 34 reads "three to the fourth power".
